The original site has nothing to say about this puzzle, so everything from here on is from me, along with bits and pieces from others that I've picked up along the way. It's assumed you can solve a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube using the ultimate solution.
The Basic Plot
- Solve edges.
- Solve corners.
Step 1: Solve Edges
Step 2: Solve Corners
To solve the edges, we choose a face and essentially solve the "white cross". Instead of matching edges by colour, we need to match edges by height and width. While initially it can take some time to see what's going on, soon it becomes reasonably straightforward to find the correct edge.
Once the first four edges are done, we solve the remainder as we would for a standard cube. Of course, we're solving by shape not by colour.
Once the first four edges are done, we solve the remainder as we would for a standard cube. Of course, we're solving by shape not by colour.
We use an ordinary corner piece series to place the corners. The pieces still behave as they normally do - eg. roll along an edge - but we place them by shape rather than colour.
And that's it. Your Mirror Blocks Cube is now solved. I trust this site has been helpful. If you have any questions or want some clarifications, please use the comments to do so.

Nice puzzle! I was wondering whether you would do any shape mods. I find these quite easy with the Ultimate solution because rolling the faces lines up the shape so well. It looks more fearsome than it is!
ReplyDeleteThey are quite expensive but maybe you should try a ghost cube!

Hmmm. Ghost cube looks interesting. Where do I get it?
DeleteYou need to get them custom made - I got mine form Cubervietnam on TP. Drop me an email and I can give you more detail (including his email address) - if you really want one it was $110US including postage!
